Bulldog donation "Drive"...(This has been approved by David).

My name is Colin Guest, I reside in Houston, TX. and I have always used the name "Lizzys' dad", and now "Lizzy and Baldricks'dad". Like my wife, Ann (Lizzys' mom), we have always thought of our Bullies first so we chose to use their names and not ours.
Earlier today, I contacted David and approached him with an idea that I have had in my head for some time, and he has eagerly approved it.
What I want to do, is to raise money to help Bulldogs that need financial help to better their health, or lives, and I need your help and generosity to make this work.
Here's my plan:
On October 30th, I am taking a trip out West. At the moment, I don't know exactly where I shall visit, but I do intend to visit Brian Temple in Albuquerque, and Patti and David in Las Vegas.
This is where all of you wonderful people come in.
I am asking of a MINIMUM donation of 1/4 cent per mile that I travel. If, for example, I travel 6000 miles, it would be a $15 donation.
(The last time Ann and I went West, we clocked up 7200 miles).
ALL donations shall be sent directly to David, and he shall overlook where the money goes. It will be completely at his discretion.
I shall be posting this message at least once a week until we leave, just in case others miss this one.
Also, if this is favourable with those who read this message, I would like to mention in future posts, places where we shall also be travelling to as I make my mind up. New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Adminzona, Nevada and Southern California will definitely be getting a visit from the "Travelling Baldrick and Colin Show", so maybe we can cross paths. (Please feel free to e-mail me, or just reply to these posts).
So come on guys and gals, dig deep into your sofas, raid your piggy-banks, and lets see how much money we can raise to help the unfortunate members of this incredible and wonderful breed that we all love so much.
For the record, and this is because I'm doing all the driving, I will put 1 cent per mile myself. I don't think that 6000 miles is out of the question.
Also, I shall post a picture of the odometre before I leave, and afterwards.

I think its awesome. And you guys rock for thinking it up and bringing it to everyones attention.
I just want to be the voice for BuddiesThruBullies!! I could even ask if an email could be sent to the members telling them about this. No telling how many more Bully Lovers we could reach. 
I hope I didnt offend you in any way. At no time did I think the money collected would be squandered. I know with every little bit of my being that everyone here loves bullies and wouldnt take advantage of this beautiful opportunity.

Well, how about this.
Hi Rachel,
The only thing that I can suggest is that you contact David and discuss your concerns with him. I'm not bothered either way.
I certainly didn't want the money sent to me, and I just felt that David would be very fair with the distribution.
Personally, if you wanted to send a donation to your local rescue, I don't see why not, and if the amount of miles I travelled determined how much you sent, then either way, a/some Bullies will benefit. That's all that matters.
This is just a thought that I came up with. It's a little different from selling cakes at a jumble sale or a church fete.
I hope that I don't sound harsh, I just want to do something with other people to benefit Bulldogs.

I dont feel comfy with the part about leaving where the money goes soley up to David. This is NOT a shot against David in ANY way!! There are Bulldog Resuce Organizations here in my home state that need help and to date I have not heard them mentioned. I dont want them to be overlooked. I am speaking specifically about Buddies Thru Bullies located in Miami Florida. I am a member and a volunteer with them and they need help!!!!
I would love to contribute to this idea because it has awesome potential. But...I want to know where the money is going before hand.

Very Nice Colin, I hope many people jump in. I will of course use it for rescue to those in need, which we can see where it is needed when the journey is done. Since the contest provide most of teh funds for this site anymore it allows us to open all other fund raisers to those in need. I fully support you in this and will also kick in a penny per mile to the fund myself. For those of you who don't know Colin, he post on occasion and has lurked for many years here. Thanks for the idea and help on rescue!
