Bloody diarrhea, vomiting and hives

Several times during the spring and summer months, some of the bulldogs have come back inside after playing outside with bugbites/hives on their belly and their back legs. We have a privacy fence around the back yard except for the very back, and we tied into a very tall chainlink fence that surrounds the high school. On the school side of the chainlink, there is brush and weeds that is very dense. The bullies love to lay up against that fence, there are bunnies and birds, etc...We also think that there might be ants or some sort of bug that bites the dogs sometimes.

Jezz came in 2 days ago after playing outside and I noticed welps on her belly and side, I gave her benadryl and she just laid around the rest of the evening. Yesterday morning I woke up to a pile of diarrhea and vomit, she also still had hives. I gave her more benadryl and applied hydrocortosone cream to her belly. She didn't eat yesterday, but would drink water. I thought she'd be fine by morning, but this morning she had diarrhea and vomiting again, but this time the stool had some blood in it and yes she still has hives. She is still drinking, so she is staying hydrated.

This is the longest that any of them have had hives and I am wondering if this could be a severe allergic reaction to whatever got her? The other dogs are fine, needless to say, I have kept them all inside except for quick potty breaks, any ideas?

time for a vet visit....

what ever she got into the benadryl is not working...you seem to need a bigger shot of pred....
i would think she has eaten some thing becasue of the vomiting....
but i would call and make an appt

Yup, I'd take her in

Sounds like the hives are just one of the manifestations of a bad reaction to something...

agree ASAP

I would have gone to the vet already if it were me
do not waste time with those symptoms for sure

Have you been to the vet yet? I would go ASAP with those

symptoms.

Re: Bloody diarrhea, vomiting and hives

not an expert by any means.

is there a chance that the diareah and vomitting is unrelated to the allergy? Maybe she ate something she shouldnt have ect. I would get her and a stool sample into the vet if it has lasted a couple days, or if she is suddenly lethargic or seems bloated ect.

there may be a bug in your area that is know to cause issues like you have mentioned, but again, a call to the vet may put you at ease.

best of luck.

bulldogs ehh!
