I bought both of these books for son to go in the bully box at Christmas but I need to read them myself. I love stories of bullies and both books look great. how cool is that to have your bully mentioned Elaine.

much bully love~Christine, Dupree, Marley and Savannah
she can see somewhat, and it helps if she is familiar with the story or if she has already seen what she is looking at. She'd probably enjoy that video. I'll look for it at the library or on Amazon for her. Thanks.

I wish she didn't have a visual deficit. There is a version of the movie DVD that comes with two great extras, one of which is about the small town where Harper Lee grew up, and the other is about the two child actors who played Jem and Scout. It was fascinating to see what they look like as adults and what they are now doing in their lives.
I really enjoyed the audio book of TKAM, but wish they had done a second version that was narrated by the same woman who does the narration in the movie. Her voice is just incredible.

I'm always looking for books for my mom. She loves all the dog stories because they remind her of Junior, her favorite thing ever. She likes him better than me. LOL

they are too emotional for me.
Have never read "Where the Red Fern Grows" .... won't see the movie. Learned my lesson with "Old Yeller".
My mother sends dog books to me as Christmas gifts. I thank her and tell her what sweet stories they are (from reading the back cover). But truthfully, they are never read. I don't like to cry.

the narrator is a dog. The last two chapters are just magical.

My mom, who is 86, has macular degeneration which has made her pretty much legally blind. She can see, but she can't read books anymore. Every week I take her stacks of books on CD that I get from the library. She listens to them and puts little sticky note reviews on each one so I will know if she liked it or not. The other day I saw the audio book, "To Kill A Mockingbird" on the library shelf and thought of how you always say that is your favorite book ever. I checked it out for mom and she loved it. Her review said, "Best ever. Must own!" I ordered her a copy through Amazon.

If you go to Amazon and look at Bullmina and click on "look inside this book" and search "Roxy" her rescue story will come up. It's her moment of fame!

I agree! I start crying at the opening credits of Old Yeller
I can't read books like that. I haven't seen Marley and Me and I'm still traumatized by Bambi.

I don't rescue animals because I want to feel better about myself, or morally superior to anyone. The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.
Jon Katz "Soul of a Dog"
Okay ... let me know which ones have happy endings
and I'll read those!
Thanks Elaine!

I am always worried they will have a sad ending
And they often do end with the dog dying. So I don't read them because I get too emotional.
