I wish she didn't have a visual deficit. There is a version of the movie DVD that comes with two great extras, one of which is about the small town where Harper Lee grew up, and the other is about the two child actors who played Jem and Scout. It was fascinating to see what they look like as adults and what they are now doing in their lives.

I really enjoyed the audio book of TKAM, but wish they had done a second version that was narrated by the same woman who does the narration in the movie. Her voice is just incredible.

Have never read "Where the Red Fern Grows" .... won't see the movie. Learned my lesson with "Old Yeller".

My mother sends dog books to me as Christmas gifts. I thank her and tell her what sweet stories they are (from reading the back cover). But truthfully, they are never read. I don't like to cry.

My mom, who is 86, has macular degeneration which has made her pretty much legally blind. She can see, but she can't read books anymore. Every week I take her stacks of books on CD that I get from the library. She listens to them and puts little sticky note reviews on each one so I will know if she liked it or not. The other day I saw the audio book, "To Kill A Mockingbird" on the library shelf and thought of how you always say that is your favorite book ever. I checked it out for mom and she loved it. Her review said, "Best ever. Must own!" I ordered her a copy through Amazon.
