We leave for the Grand Canyon State on Saturday, and would love input on great fun things to do around Phoenix/Flagstaff besides the GC ,of course. We are going to the OUt of Africa Wildlife Safari, my daughter loves 'big cats'. Other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Scottsdale memories!!!
Out of Africa;have not thought of that place in a few years! We loved being able to go in and play with the baby lion cubs under CLOSE supervision. The staff would take a video and lots of pics!
I lived in Pinnacle peak, north of Scottsdale. We had about 12 acres with horses; another life! LOL

Thanks so much Amy!!! .............
those are all great ideas...is there any type of water park in or around Phoenix.......that seems to be the only thing to do without roasting.
What about Flagstaff/GC......anything else fun to do up there?

My Dauhgter worked for Out Of Africa...
It is a great place! If they have Tiger splash, you gotta stay for that show! It is wonderful fun. Phoenix Zoo is cool, I worked there. Go in the morning early, like 7:30 or so. No later than ten or you will get roasted out. The Heard Museum in downtown Phoenix is wonderful, full of Indian artifacts and artwork. Downtown Scottsdale is fun, too. Check out Scottsdale Fashion Square for a beautiful Mall experience. They have a good food court:-), and movie theater. For a neat movie experience, try the Cine Capri in North Scottsdale. It has one of the largest screens in the world. Pretty awesome to watch a film there:-).
All of Kathy's ideas were good ones! Sedona is a must, too! Take a Camera! You will go that direction if you go to Out Of Africa.

We live in north Phoenix/Cave Creek area and...
just remember, it's 112 here right now, but it is very dry, just stay out of the sun as much as possible and drink a LOT of water. The Grand Canyon of course is magnificant and it's a lot cooler up there. Stop in Sedona and see the red rocks and all the neat stores and restaurants. Prescott is nice, they have the courthouse square and whiskey row, we have a summer place up there. 3 hours south of Phoenix is Nogales, Mexico, lots of fun in the daytime but be sure to have a passport if you cross the border. Out of Africa is great, the Phoenix zoo is nice, the Botanical Gardens are pretty, but it's a little hot for a stroll in the sunshine. Downtown Scottsdale is nice, they have what they call Old Town which has nice shops, restaurants, night life. If I think of anything else I'll post it. Hope you have a great time. If you need any more info, email me at Edd4iron@aol.com and I'll answer any questions.

Ooops, meant to say "tourist attraction"
not "tourist attracting."

I recently read a fascinating article calling Arizona the OPEC o
according to the article, there has been a major breakthrough in solar panel technology that will allow solar arrays to store electricity much more efficiently than in the past. One of the most famous venture capital firms in Silicon Valley, one that was behind the start up of many extremely successful computer and internet companies (including Google, I think) has recently invested hugely in solar power. And they are all touting Arizona as the OPEC of solar energy because the weather and terrain there is perfect for solar arrays. Some huge company is now building the world's largest solar array system in the Arizona desert and the talk about coming developments is, pardon the pun, electrifying.
Okay, so this is probably more than you wanted to hear, lol. But I bet that huge solar array system they are building will soon become a bit of a tourist attracting too.
