Sophie has a medium-sized (vet's words) mass on her spleen----it's about 2-3 cm around. I was NOT going to get upset, and just
pray that it's NOT cancer, and of course, it needs to be removed. Vet did NOT say anything for SURE about removing it yet---he's
going to call us back today (he just ultrasounded it yesterday)...
....
Welllll, now that I did some googling, I see that it COULD just rupture and she would hemorrhage to death.....NOW I am scared!
I'm counting the hours until the vet office opens, and see what they say. Thanks! ((( hugs ))) to everybully!

Sending prayers...
if it makes you feel any better, we did a spleenectomy on one of our rescues, he was about 6, that was 2 years ago & he's just FINE. Praying for a good outcome for sweet Sophie.

That DOES make me feel better.....annnd
I talked to the vet after I posted this, and he thinks her risk of RUPTURE is very LOW,
because the mass is well encapsulated! What a RELIEF! And it's not the removal I'm
afraid of, since they (and us!) can be fine without a spleen....it's the anesthesia, well----also
praying it's not cancer, too! But the thought of it just rupturing on its own and my Sophie
hemorrhaging to death was what was REALLLLY scaring me! Thank you, and I'm so glad
your baby did well !!! :-)

Thank you! No, but we're getting a second opinion
today (Friday, June 24) at our vet that SPECIALIZES in bulldogs.....I will feel better
knowing his thoughts! A second opinion is always a good idea with something THIS serious!!!

Huge prayers to you and Miss Sophie
Dread had his spleen removed about a year and a half ago. It was apparently pretty big, but the vet removed it and after a few days at the hospital, he was home and on the mend. It was a scary few days for sure until we had the results of the biopsy back. Sending good thoughst to you and Sophie. Dread had the surgery on his ninth birthday so he wasn't a young guy when he had the Sx.

awww.....SO glad Dread is okay!!! I'm sure
those were some HARD days to wait on the results....but ALSO, just the stress of himz going through
surgery, huh? Especially since the spleen is SO vascular, it scares me! BUT, the pawsome vet she'll
be getting a second opinion from is a seriousssly amazing bulldog specialist! The first vet is, too---BUT,
or something that could POSSI-BULLY be very serious, we will feel SO much better after seeing the
second vet and seeing what he says! SOOO happy your sweet Dread is okay!!!
