My vet found a tumor in Sophies mouth that he is fairly certain is cancer. That tumor was something that several months ago a different vet told me was just overgrown gums. The first vet was at a clinic I tried that was close by my home, today I took her to my regular ver an hour away for a different issue. Good thing I took her today, at least I know a little more now.
Sophie has no good bacteria at all in her intestines. None. She was on Metronidozole for diarrhea for the past 20 days that wasnt doing any good. The amount prescribed had been too low (again, a different clinic closer to my home that I tried). The bacteria issue could be caused by intestinal cancer, or it could be Irritable Cowel Syndrome. Either way, the oral rumor is 99 percent likely to be canserous, and it is a squamous cell carcinomaif it is cancer. If it is, she would have up to a year, or as little as a few months. We will have it removed next week and should know what it biopsies as by next Friday.
Please be praying for Sophia. If it is cancer in the intestines, it is already too late. She has lost 3 pounds in the past month, she can't really afford to lose more, and though she has an appetite, it all comes right back out her bottom from the diarrhea. She isn't retaining any nutrition from her food. I am in shock, not sure what else to say...
Amy and Sophia
Amy, I am so sorry to hear this news about Sophia
I'll be praying that the biopsy is negative and with the correct meds she can get back on track. Love on her and hold her close.
Thanks so much!
I am hopeful and praying for a good resolve to her issues.

Oh Amy

Wow, I am so sorry that you and Sophia are going through all of this. Super hugs to the patient.

Oh Lynn, it just breaks my heart to pieces...
I want so bad to make it not happen. My vet is pretty sure about the mouth tumor, but he is hopeful the intestinal issue will resolve and not be a bad thing. Even so though, if the tumor in her mouth is malignant....well, we will cross that bridge when it is time to cross it. For now, I have my girl home, she happily ate every bite of her new soft food, though the little stinker still found the pill I hid in it and spit it out, so I had to stuff it into her throat! Silly Sophia.
My sweet little new Sunshine girl, the little Chiweenie my daughter found a month ago, also went to the vet today. She got spayed, shots, heart worm and parasite tested (all negative!). She will be back up and bouncing soon enough. So a bitter sweet day today for sure.
