Probably a heart attack (that's what the rescue president thinks)....doesn't really matter, glad he didn't suffer except for the

last few breaths he struggled for.....  His abdomen suddenly got VERY swollen and hard----We were ready to rush him to

the Emergency Vet and I was going to do rescue breathing while hubby drove, but he died very quickly.  I was sure it was

bloat/ volvulus, (because of his HUGE tummy!!!) but experienced rescue peeps said no, usually that's only in younger doggies...

He was ten, so he had a LONG life for a bulldog!!!  :-)  He had that horrible sounding "heartworm cough",  but the vet said his

blood test showed low amounts and he was going to start him on heartworm treatment soon, also....I

guess the heartworm / age / stress of being abandoned / who knows eventually got to him.... Hubby and I have googled and

googled and I can't find ANYTHING about their abdomen getting so huge before a heart attack....?  Sorry, I know I said it

didn't matter before, and it doesn't....but we're still curious, plus we wanna know info for the future!!!...

He would've been with us 2 weeks this Sunday....boy, we loved him the minute he came to our house!!!  My hubby was

especially smitten---they had a verrry cute bond!!!   We were also going to officially adopt him !!!!!  I was SO looking

forward to taking him to Texas with us on our annual Christmas Road Trip...couldn't wait for our family and friends to

meet him and see how cute he'd be in the hotel beds with Meaty and Sophie  :-)  ....

Daddy and Murphy at the vet Tuesday....he'd gotten microchipped, vaccined, new bottle of cyclosporine for his

sweet, blind, goooey eyes, and the heartworm blood test.....Precious boy....He died last night (Thursday at 11:15)...

Hubby wants him here with us, so we're burying him in a special spot in our yard.....((( Hugs ))) to everybully!!!  This was our first 

pet death, so it's very new for us!!!!
