My family is moving to Hawaii and we are looking for a way to get our bulldog there. We came across a place called island pet movers and were wondering if anyone has used them before, or know anything about them?

We moved to Hawaii several years ago and ended up flying out of SF in the early morning (first flight out) to Hawaii. We flew first class on Hawaiian Air just because I thought we would recieve a bit more personalized service. We did arrive in the afternoon, but I find that Hawaiian is good with the animals and gets them on and off the tarmac quickly. How old is your pup? Have you started the quarantine process yet? MAKE SURE THAT YOUR DOG DOES NOT SPEND ANY TIME IN THE QUARANTINE FACILITY. IT IS TERRIBLE AND WORSE THAN ANY FLIGHT!!!! Yes, I was yelling. The facility is terrible. It is unairconditioned and just cages and concrete runs. The place is dirty, hot and gross.

It is truly terrible. I would never, ever let my baby stay there for any amount of time. I'm sure that is where your BILs Golden was during the quarantine. They only have one state run facility and all the dogs go there until they are able to be released.

with kennel facilities. The only ship that has kennels is the Queen Mary 2 which is transatlantic from NY/Southhampton/Hamburg. If you ever need to move to Europe, I recommend this highly. We just moved to Germany from Va and came over on the QM2. :-)

you mentioned the QM2----I was curious if y'all had to get to New York to get to the ship? I'm asking because when I did
some research about cruises several months ago; I remember finding ONE cruiseline that allows doggies, and I was SO thrilled, (because I was thinking of a *possi-bull** future vacation where we could bring the babies!)-----UNTIL I read
that they only depart / arrive in New York and England. I assume that's the one y'all took, since--as you said---it's the ONLY one. So, did y'all have to drive with Dreadnaught to New York? And if the ship docked in England, how did y'all get to Germany? I hope it all went verrrry
smoothly, and that y'all are enjoying Germany!

Yep, it is the QM2 and it departs from NY and goes to Southhampton and then into Hamburg. We drove to the port in NY and boarded the ship there. It was so, so easy! Much easier than I anticipated actually. :-) We were in Va so the drive was only about 4-5 hrs. We rented a car in Va and then dropped it off at a rental place that was near the port. That would be the easiest way to do thinks, I would think. There were quite a few pet owners that had done that.
As far as a vacation??? The QM2 was amazing. The kennels were clean and the kennelmen that took care of the dogs were beyond fabulous. We were able to visit just about anytime we wanted to and there is an area where you can sit and hang out with your pups. The crossing took 9 total days so most of the dogs were more than ready to get of the ship by then. Many of the people that were on the ship wiith thier pets were moving to Europe. There were actually 3 bulldogs. There were 22 dogs total, but they sell out of kennel space quickly.
We stayed on the ship until Hamburg so no worries about getting into Germany. I think they only go to Hamburg during certain times of the year. We aren't settled yet...still in hotel and will be for the forseeable future. Such is Army life, but all is good. Dread is just happy to be with us even if he gets a little cranky with people in the hotel.
I need to post pictures, but I havent had a chance to upload them to my cpomputer yet. We have some great ones!

Maybe you've already done this, but....
have you thought of going to some bulldog websites and asking other bulldog owners? Also, visit their
Facebook page (if they have one)----Better Business Bureau, Yelp, etc. Check out all the other
customers' reviews. You didn't specify; but I'm assuming this will be by boat? I wish y'all
the best, so you can take your baby(ies) with you! Ooops, wait---I think there might
be a quarantine period? My sister & hubbs PCS'd to Oahu years ago, and their doggie had to be
.....but---oops (sorry!) I think the quarantine time was after they LEFT Hawaii.....GOOD LUCK! :-)

No help with that but...

That is just HORRIBLE !!! If anybully
I know who has this Hawaii / quarantine issue, I will inform them of your info.....that is SO sad! :-(
I mentioned before that many years ago, when my sister's hubb was PCS'd from Hawaii to Texas, their sweet
golden retriever had to be quarantined for a while. I do NOT know if she stayed at the horrible place you're referring
to; but I hope not :-( Oh, and I meant to also say.....Thank you and/or your hubby for your service!!! :-)
(my b-i-law / sister moved more than 20 times in his Air Force career......they were soooooo happpy to stay in ONE PLACE
once he retired!!!)
