Hi everyone! Bosco is doing alright and feeling better. He was a little bit of a mess right after surgery, he did not want to eat. He was regurgitating after drinking water. He spent two nights at the hospital so he was monitored 24 hours and had his own vet tech. He is home now, still being a picky eater but feeling better and his stitches are out. He had his first set of post op x-rays and the implant looks good. He is bearing weight on the leg, wants to walk for longer than the five minutes he is allowed. He is eyeing the couch and I can see it in his face, he wants to jump. He is on crate rest during the day and he starts physical therapy Friday. I'm very happy that he is doing well and on the mend. I'll update again after his PT consult on Friday. Thanks for asking about Bosco, everyone here knows how nerve wracking if can be to have surgery on your bulldog.

the worst part with Chester was keeping him confined for 8 weeks. He actually was depressed and we would have to climb into the pen and sit with him so he didn't feel neglected. He wouldn't put weight on his at all for the first week, we had to carry him out to the yard and back. Glad those days are behind us!
I can tell that he is so unhappy on crate rest. He is so excited to come out when we get home after work. The dog walker says that he is the same way with her and that he just wants to go walk more and stay out. I have considered asking his doctors to alter his medicine, giving him fewer pain killer that have a sedative effect and more tranquilizer to help him sleep, relax in the crate, and frankly take away some of his energy. I don't like the idea of temporarily killing his puppy, fun loving spirit, but I don't want him miserable during the day or to hurt himself by being too energetic.

crate rest is the worst

awww,,,,,that IS sad, isn't it? I like your idea
about asking the vet for something a bit sedating...poor baby! I've alllllways wondered how we'd handle it if our
babies needed it, because I know they'd go crazy. Here's an idea you MAY have thought of, but just in case you or
your vet haven't ----could he possibly go to Physical Therapy? Not only would it help him heal, but he'd be able
to be active, AND socialize :-) Hope this helps....and ((( hugs ))) to precious Bosco!!!
