Hello everybody,
We're new to the world of English bulldog owning.
Edna is 18 months old and came to us via a rescue. she was used to breed off but didn't take to her pups . we we're told she came into season in August but seems she's just come in again. ( she's our first female) we have no desire to breed her so waiting until she can be spayed, im just looking for help and guidance what to feed her . what she us currently on doesn't seem to be agreeing with her ( just noticed it's full of rice which reading doesn't seem a good idea!
she also has a couple if sores on her fave and feet what cream is best to use?
many thanks
Welcome!
We feed two of our guys Fromm Heartland which is a beef/pork mix that is grain free. Any quality grain free food will help with skin problems. Fromm, Natural Balance, Wilderness, Arcana to name a few. Our girl, who tends to be itchy and have tail infections, is on a frozen raw food and she does quite well on it. The sores between the toes are likely interdigital cysts, some people soak the feet in epsom salts, I use Preparation H because it's impossible to get my guys to stand in a tub of water. We also clean tail pockets and wrinkles daily. Wishing you many years of love with your new girl.
Food!
Neutro Adult formula has worked very well. We feed the lamb mix. We also put vegetables into their bowls, raw or cooked, with they love. We fed this to our last bulldog who lived until she was 14-years. Our 2-year old and our 9-year old both love it, too. Both are healthy. No allergies, no tummy problems.

Hi there! So wonder-bull that you've
joined us! This site was my FIRST bulldog site, and I have loved it here since our Meaty was a puppy (he'll be EIGHT in a few
days! ) Edna is adora-bull; I only wish the photo was larger :-) SOOOO happy you rescued her, too!!! Hubbs and I have
been fostering ( and adopted recently!) a while and LOVE it !!! ANYHOO, like others said, high quality, grain free is best
Our babies have gone through several food trials; and the best one for them is Natural Balance Salmon and Sweet Potato!
It's also LIMITED INGREDIENT and I believe that is key for bulldogs with all their sensivities/ allergies! One of their
vets we take them to is a bulldog specialist, and he believes ALL bulldogs should be on FISH-BASED / grain-free. I'm
not saying that's true or not; however, as I said, the kibble mentioned above has been the best for our babies.
Let us know how sweet Edna is doing, and we'd LOVE to see piks!!! :-)
Our sweet Archimedes "MEATY" Bones (or as we say...boneSHHH!) ---born 11/28/08---- our first bullllyyyy!!!
And SOPHIE Bubbles *Rapscallion* (LOL!) ---born 4/3/11----our second bulllllyyyy!!!!
Welcome to BDW!! You have gotten some great advice...
All of the grain free advice is spot on. I used to wash Sophies tail pocket daily, but realized it made it worse. So once a week it was, and after I clenaed nad dried it out thoroughly, I applied a little dab of Desitin diaper cream and it kept her fresh nad clean for days.
I have been on BDW for 10.5 years and have loved it! Hope you post lots of pics of your girl!
