You taught me that, sometimes, someone to get up in the middle of the night and tell you it's okay is just what you needed. You taught me that sometimes it is better to eat it now and decide whether it is delicious later. Life is a series of choices involving where is the most comfortable place to lay your head and comfort, above all else, is key. Bathtime can be scary, but once you get in, the water's fine. Everything has a smell and everything is interesting. Everyone you meet is potentially a new friend, so why not invite them to rub your belly now?
But most of all, I think the most important lesson you've taught me is how to love something that is not perfect. It can be hard, full of worry, tears and mysteries we'll never know the answers to. Yup, you have taught me that you're not perfect and yet infinitely lovable - and do you know how you did it? You did it by doing the same thing with me.
