First major question about our sweet new girl Amelia. Her prior owners fed her 2cups of kibble per day at 8:30am and 5:30pm since that is what fit their own schedule.
Having 2 cats we have fed them 4 small meals per day, starting when we all get up around 5 or 6am. And a time or two (depending on their activity level), in lieu of actually "kibble," they get a small brick, broken into pieces, of Primal freeze dried turkey (which I won't give to Amelia keeping to the no bird overall rule).
If I slowly transition Amelia to that same schedule .. is that OK? Meaning split her 2cups of kibble into 4 servings? Or do these pups just need more food/calories per meal than a cat? And I assume any "snacks" would be very small treats for training rewards.
I have been trying to feed the cats in another room -- but Amelia's sweet, sad looking face tells me she can smell everything going on in the next room.

The problems happen when bulldogs get fewer than two or three meals a day. Then, they tend to get rumbly tumbly ( you'll hear the stomach growl and the dog may trhow up foamy stuff) . Other than at least two meals a day, you can fit their schedule into what is good for you.
We feed ours three times; when we get up (about 9:00 am) then about 5:00 pm and then again 9:00 pm, when we eat dinner. It's fine with them. Our previous bulldog was free fed. We'd put food in her bowl and she'd eat when she was hungery. We limited it to 2.5 cups.
Great to Know!
I just didn't want to make any rash changes - since she's had so many lately - but that sounds good. At least with 3-4 smaller servings everyone can be approximatley on the same schedule.
Thank you!
