Can anyone tell me how much I should be feeding my English , she is turning 1 on 8/22 , I am currently feeding her 1 cup of Fromme dog food in the morning and same in the evening . Never seems to be enough though , she loves her food!
they have a tendency to get fat if they get too much food, especially in the summer when it's hard to walk them. If she seems hungry still, you could try putting some cooked green beans in to fill her up.
We feed our 8-year old lazy girl 3/4 cup three times a day. (She's a rescue, afraid of walks.) We feed our 1/5 year old 1 cup 3x a day. They are both trim. They LOVE regetables, so they get all the trimmings from zukes, cukes, greens brussel sprouts, etc that they want. We use them as treats and on top of their kibble.
Note. "...especially in the summer when we can't walk them." For us in Minnesota, it's not walking in the winter when it gets below zero. (I'ts 59 degrees right now, but expected to rise up into the 80s this weekend.)
Thanks for the response I hope I am not under feeding zoey, she seems a little chunky to me though, she does get raw carrots and treats in between meals too.I'm thinking of switching to a weight control food as well.
Generally, it has more unsoluible and solouible fiber which will make will make her poo a lot. Run your hands around her sides. Can you feel the ribcage? That's good. Can you see the ribs? Too skinny. Can you not feel her ribcage? Too heavy.
when Chester had to lose a few for his acl surgery. It's called Natural Balance Fat Dog and has some good igredients. It is basically grain free but does have some oatmeal in it. Chester did well on it and lost 11 pounds which was great for his poor leg.
