Oh yeah, and what about this cone of shame?

Doc says to leave it on for 10-14 days.  Sounds like a nightmare.

Try the ComfyCone

Gets the job done but it's easier on her.. Aside from banging into stuff Hanna didn't mine hers.. She even figured out how to use it to prop her head up =)

Congrats Cupcake! You brave girl!

Day 2 after surgery...

Sigh...I can tell the surgery is the easy part...it's the 14 days of e-collar wearing that is the hard part.  She's banging into walls, can't grab her toys, can't eat, can't drink without the e-collar coming off.  And then when I took it off she immediately went to rubbing her eye so it had to go back on.

I went to Petco this morning and got a comfy e-collar. http://www.petco.com/product/108491/All-Four-Paws-Black-Comfy-Cone.aspx  She still hates it but it seems more comfy.

The advantage to this e-collar thing is she is able to knock her new baby brother around and even pin him down, encircling him inside her cone of shame.  Mama is soooo proud.

Beatrix had entropian surgery

Beatrix had entropian surgery last summer, and the cone of shame was definitely the worst part. We tried leaving it off after about a week (with supervision, of course) and she still managed to tear out one of the stitches, so after that it was all cone all the time. Luckily, it was late enough in the healing process that the one stitch wasn't a problem, but you'd better believe I was on the phone with the vets office within minutes about it! It's a rough two weeks, but it's worth it -- she'll be so much happier and more comfortable once she's healed up!
