Bulldog limp

My 6 yr old male limps when he gets up from sleep.  I think it's the way he curls his paws in when he sleeps but he's only limping on the left side.  The limp goes away after a few minutes but I'm concerned.  His gate when he runs is good so I don't think it's a ligament or muscle issue.

I saw another post about giving glucosamine and vitamin C for possible arthritis, wondering if this may help.  Anyone know the dosage amount to give, he weighs approximately 55 lbs. ?

Glucosomine can help...

we give one of the Costco brand glucosomine/MSM every day, I believe it's 1500 mgs.  Newman is 6 and had the same problem, he had a stiffness when he got up and xrays showed some arthritis.  The vet gave us Adequan which is a highly concentrated glucosomine that is given by injection.  The first month he got shots I believe every week and after that just once a month.  They showed me how to give the shots myself.  It has done wonders for him.

I agree with Kathy.

Get some Glucosamine going as soon as possible. I feed either the sae as Kathy, or I get Cetyl M or dogs. It is very good.

Two of our babies limp, for

different reasons....

We were afraid Sophie might have the common problem if a torn ACL......But Sophie's Xrays showed she  has arthritis in her hips, plus a "luxating patella" (floating kneecap)....thankfully, neither require surgery.

She was getting Adequan injections, which helped----but recently, our wonder-bull vet isn't able to get any in...?
He also put her on daily Previcox (an NSAID similar Motrin or Advil; which doggies can't take).  And, she gets

some very expen$ive chews from the vet's office----I'm can't remember if they have glocosamine and chondroiton in

them, but they probably do. All of these things have helped, and she hasn't limped in a long time...

....

Our sweet elderly 12-year-old guy Professor, who adopted us 6 months ago also limps on one front leg...sometimes it

looks SO painful, it is so sad! :-(     Since his owner surrendered him to our rescue, we don't have a complete history, but the vet thinks he had a torn ACL at one time that was never surgically fixed  :-(     The vet put him on a temporary course of Rimadyl, but it didn't really help.   We massage his front legs almost every night, and I started him on glucosamine/ chondroiton about a month ago, and it seems to  have helped a little bit.  I think the massages help the most.....

....
I hope your baby will find some relief!  :-)
