So this weekend Vivi & I are showing at the St Croix Valley Kennel Club's show in Lake Elmo, MN. I've been to this show the last 2 years & we for sure had 9am or earlier ring times. On Saturday, we show at 1:05pm & Sunday at 1:20pm...this is an outdoor show & it's supposed to be 90 & humid (again). I contacted the kennel club asking if it was a typo...it was not & I was told "hope for cooler weather & be prepared for it to be hot." Gee thanks a lot.
I'm guessing this has happend to others & all goes well, but it's a first for me!!
So I guess if you all could "hope for cooler weather" for all of us bullies I would appreciate it!

Put a lead on the Show Chairman and run him/her around the ring
several times at 1:20 p.m. Some show committees are totally clueless. When I was the Show Chair for FLDC we always had all the short-nosed breeds on first in the a.m. BUT....you (show chair) have to tell the supt. that as they set the show ring times based on entry, judges, etc. Good luck, hope the weather cools off.
My friend that shows Goldens said we bulldoggers
have been just spoiled. I said, "no, we need to show early because ...." (she cut me off) & she then went on to say that other huge dogs that have a hard time breathing & have to RUN in the ring show later than us usually, so why should we always go first thing in the morning...and that we should learn to breed a longer nose.
I just said, "I guess we'll just agree to disagree because I clearly cannot make you see what I'm trying to say."

Perhaps you should explain to the show chair that....
If they want bulldogs (or any brachycephalic breed, for that matter) at their next show, they should assure the bulldog people of an early ring time. That's down right dangerous!

Cathy, I did just that! On the phone AND in an email...
on the phone the person (not show chair, but "contact") was the one that said, "well, you should prepare your dog for hot weather then." I have not gotten a response to my email I sent to the kennel club. I said I was very disappointed in that they didn't take into consideration the dog's well being. Had I KNOWN I would be showing at the hottest part of the day, I would have NEVER entered the show.
One of my friends spoke to someone else who said, "well you have bulldogs right? So & So (professional handler) usually wins anyway & goes onto group & does fine." I thought that was quite rude to say to a PAID exhibitor!!!
Frenchies are after us! The judges are there in the morning too, not sure why this happened this year. Many bulldoggers are not happy.
After how they treated us bulldoggers, I doubt many of us will be showing there next year...which is too bad because it's a local show for us.

withdraw your entry!
I understand everyones frustration and unfortunately there are ignorant people that are hell bent to have it there way. If I found after the fact of paying my entry that they are not allowing bulldogs to show early then I would "pull my entry". I would chalk it up as a $$$ loss, BUT, I would put my dog's health first and just not support them. If there were say 20 entries and "all pulled out" and "all" complained then maybe, just maybe they would not do it again. If you choose to go ahead and show at the later time this just gives them more power to keep doing it at other shows and the fact that "after" the show the person can say,,,I told you so, your dogs did okay and thus, we'll do it again. God help us if we tuck our tails between our legs and give in and someone looses there dog. Then I would have to say "shame on the owner" for not putting there dogs health and safety first. And for the "friend" that has goldens that said maybe we should breed for bigger noses and "cut you off" before you had a chance to make your point.....I would "cut her off" and look for "another so called friend". So, chalk it up as a loss, put your dogs health and safety first, let the kennel club know your disappointment, and "DONT" SHOW YOUR DOG THERE!
