Vet says my bullys leg is infected does not make sense

Hi
My poor bullys rear leg overnight became very swollen and he can no longer stand on it. Brought him to the vet right away and they said it was an infection and should go away quick on an antibiotic. Next day worse, brought him back again to other vet same building he stated severe infection give him triple antibiotic of what other vet said. I had told him to take xray and he said everything looked fine. Ok now yesterday, took him back again not getting better. they told me I am over reacting by Mon he is going to be fine. Today still very bad not better, I have to hold him up to go to the bathroom. I also have had 4 surgeries on the other leg, did not know I purchased a puppy mill dog. Any ideas on what it is?

How did they determine it was an infection?

Did they do any labs?  Infections can be pretty serious and I would be concerned also.  In our area, we have some really good 24 hr emergency/ specialty clinics.  If you have anything like that you may want to go.  I hope you see some improvement and your bully start feeling better.

Also, on the home page is a list of bulldog vets by state.

You can check it out and see if someone who is knowledgeable about the care and treatment of our breed is near you. Most vets don't have much experience with bully's, and because of the peculiar issues our guys have, it is. Good idea to find a vet who does have lots and lots of bulldog experience.

As for the leg, could it be an insect bite or sting? Spider, scorpion, etc.? Do you have snakes in your area? Glad you are taking him to another vet, sounds like the one you have been seeing isn't very thorough. Please update us, would you?
