Let me check with my OR breeder FB friends

I'll get back to you.

hey deb, amos is now having idiopathic head tremors as you menti

mentioned in your last post. they started yesterday morning, he had a few episodes lasting for about 45 sec each and then none again untill 2:30 in the aftrenoon. those both lasted for a few mintutes each, then again around 5:30  and all though the night starting at 9pm. the evening was the worst it was like there was only 10 seconds between spell. We would give him a little honey and that would stop it but then it would just get going again. How many head tremors is to many head tremors? He is on a low dose of phenobarbitol untilll next week when we can get into our local natropthic vet. People have mentioned changing his food so I picked up some arcana turkey anf fish kibble and honest kitchen grain free turkey mix. What else should I be thinking of? I feel like every vet we have taken him to just wants to medicte him or does not understand how to address head tremors!!

Head Tremors

the problem is there is not enough studies and no cure for them. I don't think pheno has shown to help at all. But you should know that over the next week.

I would recommend logging the episodes, times, when, how long and also video them. I've heard they can be food related.

So change the diet, keep it simple....try 1 food for at least 2 months, before switching.

But since he's on Pheno you won't know what helps, food or drugs.

After you speak with a neurologist and get their take, you may want to wean him back off the pheno at some point. Don't stop that stuff cold turkey.

Cathy with Zimmer has a lot of experience with head tremors, me not so much. MacKenzie has them but very sporatic and they didn't start until he was about 8. Now he maybe has 2 a month, usually around dinner time.
