urinary tract infection

my 5 year old female bully had a accident in the house yesterday. I let her out this morning to do her usual duty. She came back to the door to come inside. I opened the door for her and she ran back to yard to urinate. She never does this. She always goes both pee and poop before coming back to door. I also think she might have more odor than usual

Do you see any blood?

Sometimes that happens with a UTI.  You can get a urine sample to take to your vet and have it tested.  I usually use a shallow tupperware or pie pan and slip it under just as they squat to catch some urine.  Usually a round or two of antibiotics will knock it out.

A mild to moderate UTI won't have blood...

You can try to home treat it. I use Cranberry supplement purchased at Walmart. I buy the 4200 mg pills, and give one in the morning, one in the evening in their feed. That usually runs off any UTI my dogs may have. I actually give them one daily in their breakfast, that keeps any UTI issues at bay for my guys.

I guess if I were you, I would get a diagnosis first from your vet before doing anything. If it is a UTI, your vet will want to do a run of antibiotics. You will need to get some probiotics to help keep the good bacteria in her digestive system, I use plain, fat free yogurt and put one tablespoon on the morning meal. It keeps the tummy happy!

UTI

So are cranberry supplements of 4200 mg pills too strong. My dog weighs about 45 lbs.She had a shot for an antibiotic which seemed to correct the urgency. She had a high white blood cell count that the vet thought might be a uti. She seems fine now but she still smells like she could have some sort of uti
