Hi, I've read a LOT about tail pocket issues and how to keep them clean.....but this is something I've not read about---
lately I notice Meaty's pocket is getting a bit more loose around the entire diameter. It's about 1/2 inch deep, and has always been slightly tight,
until recently. We're also noticing there is a mild odor more often (I really don't think it's infection, because when I
clean it, it's usually mostly hair that comes out----) Is this new looseness a good or a bad thing?
It seems the looseness it's a good thing as far as his COMFORT during the cleaning (poor guy!!!)
I haven't asked the vet or googled yet, and would love to hear from ya---thanks in advance! :-)

I don't know anything about the looseness of his tail pocket...
but Dooley was just at the vet re: his demodex. I also had her check his tail pocket it has been a bit irritated. I clean it regularly with baby wipes and use desitin and gold bond which she said was good. Lately it has an odor to it which she said was yeast, so she told me to use monistat.
ah-hah! Yes, that's probably it...THANK YOU! I am sooo
conflicted with the Desitin/ Gold Bond Powder combo that LOTS of people use (we've done the powder and I think it must feel good
to him!, and I was going to try some Desitin eventually), but then others say it leaves too much "gunk" in there---it's so hard to know that is the RIGHT thing sometimes, isn't it? :-(
Thank you for telling me what your vet said---Meaty ALWAYS has yeast isssues (ears and paws) and I never considered that ----time to get some
Monistat for his poor wittle pocket :-)
