Ear canals closing

This happened to my boy several years ago. You MUST go to a specialist (Dermatologist) for this matter immediately! They put my boy on steroids for about a month to get the canals to open up so that they could do a culture and administer the correct meds in his ears. The cause of his problem was a food allergy (flax seed). Have you changed his food lately? I thought I was doing something good for my guy by adding orgainic flax seed oil to his food unaware that that was causing his ear canals to close.  You may want to get some allergy testing done. Please don't let any vet talk you into any surgery unless it is absolutely necessary. Most times this can be corrected with steroids and then treating the infection once the canals open up. Hope this helps and good luck!!!

swollen and shut ear canals

My boy is on a grain free food. And one of the vets tild me to take him off the predisone and just administer ear ointment that has a steroid in it. The predisone seemed to help at first but when i was told to take him off it seemed to have gotten worse.Should i put him  back on the steroid predisone again?

Please go to a DERMATOLOGIST!!!

They will more than likely put him back on the prednisone in order to get the canals to open back up. Once there is a wide enough opening they will prescibe some medication to treat whatever infection they find. Regular vets are not trained enough in this area. A specialist costs more, but they get to the bottom of the problem alot quicker.
