Splay Leg in 8 week old Puppy

Hello Everyone!

Has anyone had experience with Splay leg in pups? We have been looking for a brother for chase for a few weeks and a breeder offered us the most beautiful pup but it has splay leg (online also calls it swiming pup syndrome). The breeder told me that the problem will fix itself in 3 weeks as long as the legs are taped together.

With all the hip issues bulldogs face this scares me, is my concern warranted?

Thanks!

Contact a local rescue ASAP

Swimmer pups will rapidly deteriorate unless the situation is addressed agressively. Please do right by this dog and try to get the breeder to find a rescue to rehab this pup immediately. No reputuble, humane breeder would sell this puppy and not quickly seek treatment. This is a huge defect that can become a life ending deformity without vetrinary attention. Please see this link for a pup who recently entered into rescue due to this disorder--
