Skin Issues - tiny bumps, fur missing

We have only had Riley since July, so each season could be contributing to issues, but not sure what this is.    She is 4, and this is her first year to live in Houston.

She has patches of circular missing fur surrounding a tiny slightly red bump - like a tiny pimple.    It is spreading.    Her vet put her on antibiotics and so far it has done nothing.   We are scheduled for a recheck, but wondered if a bullie expert here could tell me what it is.   Not sure if it is connected, but she is very congested with allergies right now too, and on Benadryl.

She is on a raw food diet, which has done wonders for her, but I have to confess to other treats as well.   The black wax in her ears, the nose rope, the itchy paws.... all of it disappeared with the raw food diet, so I don't think that's the problem.

I used to have Shar Pei's and am pretty sure I've seen this way back when, but not sure!   Thanks in advance for any help!

Did it look like this?

Its not the clearest picture -

The hair would fall out, at the edge of the circle really easily - it turned out to be a localized fungus - the Vet gave us a cream for it, and it cleared up within 7-14 days.

Yes... it does look like that.

But the vet put her on more antibiotics, anti-itch etc.   I think I may try my own antifungal non Rx creams and see if I can get some improvement.  Thank you!!!

Did the vet scrape and culture it

to determine what kind of anitibiotics would work best on it?  Or did he just give you anti-biotics and is treating something he doens't have a clue what he is treating?

It is likely staph and it can be treated if a mild cause with anti fungals.

If it hasn't been cultured then I would ask your vet to culture it and find out what it is.

I went along with the random

I went along with the random antibiotics, but if it doesn't clear up, I'm taking her to a skin specialist and will get it cultured.   I also am using Animax on her spots.   Thanks!

it is a hot spot

Vet ruled out 'Hot Spot' on Gizmo -"Animax Ointment"

That was our 1st question for the Vet -  Hot Spot or Ring Worm -  He said Fungi - and prescribed

.

ANIMAX OINTMENT (Topical)

.

"Animax is a combination of antimicrobial, antifugal, and corticosteroids which are used to treat ear infections as well as a wide variety of skin conditions characterized by inflammations and dry or exudative dermatitis caused by bacterial or candidal infections. Animax may also be used to treat eczema, seborrhea, and contact dermitis. A prescription is required."

Generic Name: Nystatin-Neomycin Sulfate-Thiostrepton-Triamcinolone Acetone Ointment

I've got the Animax all over

I've got the Animax all over her back on every spot I could find.   She also is on Cephalexon and Temaril P.     Thanks so much for the advice!   I think it is going to take awhile to get this much under control.

It sounds like maybe mange.

Any stress can bring it on. Try helping her immune system get stronger by adding vitamin c to her diet. I would not take her anywhere, no car rides, stores, etc, until she is over this. All dogs have them, but under stressful conditions such as an owner change, home move, new food, etc, this mange can come out.

Interesting, as she has been

Interesting, as she has been under stress.   She was a rescue and gets worked up into a frenzy very easily.    She just had palate surgery which was extremely stressful on her.    Riley was used as a breeder, and so trips to the vet meant c-sections.   I've been taking her with me to the vet just to pick up meds etc., so she sees not all trips hurt.... and we do go home together.    I'll watch her to see if it reappears with stress again.    First I have to get rid of it!
