We sought a 2nd opinion and the vet scoped his throat. He said his palate is long and does obstruct a flap that would make it hard for water to go down. (don't know the medical term for the flap). He's writing a report and forwarding all of Sarge's records he has to a vet/animal hospital in Bismark that can do the surgery (2 hours away). They'll call us to schedule and intake and do the surgery if the vet concurs. CLOSER than we've ever been to getting our guy better. As long as he eats small meals and doesn't drink a lot of water he's keping food down. If it wasn't for all of you bringing this elongated palate issue to my attention we'd still be stumped. I feel relieved. A huge thank you!

I'm so happy that you may have a solution!
I know the palate surgery made a world of difference for Chester, hope Sarge has the same result! Keep us updated!
That is great news!
So happy that you might have found out what was making Sarge so sick. If the surgeon agees that it is his palate, then the surgery can make such a world of difference. He will feel so much better. Keep us in the loop as you move forward with this; I am thinking good thoughts for sarge!
it stinks
that he needs surgery but at least you know what the problem is now...
