rosie & Lilly pearl

My wilson who i bought as a show dog has hemi vertbrea....it does not effect him as much as your rosie....he does drag his back feet once in a while....but what i do for him is accupuncture once a month...i also have a riki massage therapist give him a massage and  they straighten out his back. ...the steroid will not stunt the growth of your dog....it will take away the inflammation between the disk..i would reduce alot of the heavy exercise....keep play time down and ruff housing to a min....when you see her getting weak its rest time....

on the home page of this site their is a article on hemi vertebrae.... its not a death sentence my wilson is 3 years old and as long as i make sure he does not get exhausted their are little problems

this is wilson..he has hemi vertbrea....hypolastic trechea....severe allergies.... with management he is a happy healthy boy....despite his could care less breeder

Do we have an update on Rosie? She had an appt today.....

It sounded like Hemi vertabrae to me, this is not to to bad,

This is not totally horrible news. You should email Pam, she had a foster girl that had Hemi vertabrae and they had surgery done on her, and she is living a great life with her new mom. Of course she will never walk 100% "normal", she can still live a normal life.

I forgot to ad

I think, but am not sure, but I believe when Tillie May had the surgery for Hemi vertabrae, she was only a year old or so, maybe a year and a half, so it is doable, and she was adopted and lives the life of Riley now.

Thank you for the encouragement

Rosie's x-ray shows not one or two hemi vertebrae, but multlpe ones, with a curviture in the spine, which makes it very difficult to perform a major operation on a little 13lb baby.  When the surgeon says there is nothing he could do, what are we to think?  I am totalling overwhelmed with grief.  After reading so many articles online, it sounds like all english bulldogs, french bulldogs could have a hemi-vertebrae and not show any signs without an x-ray.  I feel all reputible breeders should provide these x-rays for proof the parents have healthy spines.  Karen

spine and many hemi vertebrae..... no  she cant  ran as fast as the others....she has problems with urine...but thats becasue of untreated uti..also she cant stand to poop...but she is happy and out going...when you breed a drawf dog like a bull you cant get rid of everything and this is a problem the breed will have for years....if you bought from a good breeder talk with them about your options

When Pam had Tillie May done,

Tillie May dragged her back legs and her rear end, she could not walk ( I believe) you cann look her up on youtube, Tillie May, she will be listed under Indiana Bulldog rescue. There is a video of her before the surgery and you can see how bad a shape she was in, I think there is an after video also. She was a real inspiration.
