Hi everyone,
My english bulldog puppy is 4 months old, I have been feeding him Orijen Puppy food since i got him at 8 weeks. I've noticed his furr around his mouth, his chin, and neck is turning a red rustic colour. he's not scratching his ears, but he is bitting his back thighs quite a bit. i've read online that it could be the minerals in our water, or something he is allergic to in his food. My vet suggested Royal canine developmental puppy food, so i bought a bag and will be trying it out! for now, i've been cleaning his wrinkles with duoxo pads every day and that seems to reduce the discoloration quite a bit. Can anyone relate to this problem? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I hate to say this but...
Royal Canin is a crappy food. I had to put my guy on an rx food a few years ago and within a week he has gunk under his tail, in his ears, etc. Orijen is a good food, I'm guessing it's grain free? Maybe the protein source doesn't agree with him. We feed Fromm Heartland which is grain free pork/beef. Zignature is a limited ingredient food with no potato as that can sometimes cause problems. You can put him on adult food now, bulldogs don't need the added calories and protein of puppy food. Look for somethig with 25% protein or less. Also, use filtered water. We have a Britta pitcher that we use or if you have an R/O system, that would work.
I agree, a good grain free food can help.
I usually stay away from chicken. Alot of dogs don't do well with it. I use filtered water, stainless steel bowls and occassionally use malaket wipes. They are anti bacterial and fungal wipes...work great for folds and in between toes. Royal Canin is not a good food there is a ton of junk in it.
Gotta agree about Royal Canin.
It is a crap food. Find a really good, single protein, no grain feed. You can get a good feed from Petsmart, I would try Blue Buffalo or Earthborne.
