red yeast

Our dog amos is struggling with red yeast in the folds on his face. I wipe them with a warm wash cloth and antiseptic cleansing pads from the vet daily. We have been doing this for a few months now and haven't seen a real change. I haven't used destin yet but have seen that recommended. We are headed back to the vet in a few weeks for his annual check up and will address it with the vet then but wanted any suggestions from you all as well. He is eating first mate wild fish...

Someone suggested using

Calmoseptine ointment (recommended by the dermatologist). I got some from Kofi and it has helped. Do you dry the folds well after cleaning? That is a very important step. Then use zinc oxide or Calmoseptine and maybe that will clear it up. Kofi only has problems periodically, and I only usually clean her folds two or three times a week.

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem with

I had the same problem with my whi/brindle girl. I use ANGEL EYES and swear by it! I mix it with peanut butter and each of my girls get a spoonful for breakfast every morning. The red yeast was gone in about 10 days and has never come back! I have found the cheapest places to order it are from Bj's wholesale clube (online only) or Amazon. I only use the beef flavored as I have found the chicken and the sweet potatoe flavors to be not as effective.
Keep us posted!

Same Issue

If you look at my previous post, I had the same issue with my Bully. It was due to a food brand change I discovered. We think she is allergic to the eggs in the food. I changed her food and added probiotics to every meal and was able to get rid of it. Good luck. I also started making her food homemade.
