How many bulldog breeders leave the puppies with the mom 24/7 and supervise also 27/7?

Too Cute, ya giving me Puppitis

I have a friend who breeds Cane Corso's and when they get a litter, Maria lives in the puppy room for the first few weeks, she doesnt get much sleep - but with such a large breed, momma can roll over and be on top of a pup in no time -  They actually lost one in their 1st litter that way :(

Yep

The same happened to me with my first mastiff litter.  Didn't have a clue.  The pups stayed with the mom 24/7 except for me to go potty or make food for her.  Turned my back for a minute and she squished the puppy flat.  Thank God it did survive and she went on to live a very happy life.  Bulldogs are a hard breed with so many things that could go wrong so was wondering how many breeders keep the pups separate except to feed.

Thanks

I learned the hard way also......

Fourteen years ago when I had my 1st litter there was very little info. about bulldogs and puppy litters.  Turned my back and one got up under mommy to far.   After that I never leave mom with pups and will also never leave in same room unless mom is in a crate.  Had a girl that tried to jump into the box I was keeping newborns in even with a baby gate and ex pen up.  I would rather be safe then sorry!

Past litter..........

Past litter.....

oh my those BELLIES !

ya are killing me here!

24/7

We've had 2 litters and we put the whelping box in the living room with a baby fence around, our mama dog will let us know when she wants in which is usually at least once an hour (she is a wonderful mom) For the first 2 weeks we slept on the sofa and took turns staying awake because we never wanted to leave them unsupervised and also track their feedings.  We are pretty lucky my husband works from home and I'm near by. It has been a great experience for us and my 11 year old daughter to have breed our dog.  Good Luck keep the pictures coming!

Sounds like a plan..

I wish I had a second person right now but I don't .  I have been putting them on her every hour but today left them with her all day and stayed in the room with her.  It is scary but they can smother them by accident no matter how careful you are.  Thanks for the advice.

Not Many

are willing to take the chance of a bitch laying on a puppy.  Mine were all raised in an incubator until they out grew it around 3 wks, then they were in nice wire puppy pens.  Ester was a great mom and very careful when she layed down with them to nurse...she kind of gathered them all into her tummy than layed/fell over on her side.  She spend her days in her bed underneath the incubator.  Most bitches will only go out quickly to potty then right back in to watch their babies.

Pebble

Can't stand be away from them. She really gets herself worked up and I hate to see her like that but as you said it's better to be safe than sorry.  At bedtime I put them in a pack and play with heat source and give them to her every 2 hours.  When can I start every 3 hours?

It never gets easier!!!

thats Me

I had a litter of 8 on January 2nd and I literally am spending 24/7 with them and mom. Haven't lost a single one but it has taken a boatload of effort. I camped out in the nursery room I set up though I actually got the chance to slleep in my own bed about 4 hours last night befor eduty called.

that's what it takes

People that have never raised a Bulldog litter have no idea how time comsuming it is - even when everything is going well.

I sleep in the puppy room with the babies and momma for the 1st 2 weeks.
