New to Site .... My Puppy is limping

Hi,

New to the site and have never posted .

I have an 8 month old English Bulldog Female and she is normally she is very active. Today I noticed she will not put her hind leg down and is not herself . . she doesn't wimper or growl when touching her leg but she  will not let her paw touch the floor .   Not sure if anyone could offer some advice.

Go to the Vet

It could be anything, the best thing you can do is visit your vet just to be sure. Also, it can be nothing serious but a visit to the vet should be on top of your mind.

Having been through this, my advice would be...

complete rest for a couple of days, that means no jumping on furniture, outside on a leash just to potty, the rest of the time in a very confined space.  If she's still limping after a few days, I would see the vet.  If it's a back leg it could be an acl tear which if partial, can heal, if complete would need surgery. We had to have that done with our boy Chester.  It could also be a sprain or muscle pull.  If you do see the vet, make sure it's a vet that sees a lot of bulldogs.  Some are just too ready to do surgery that's not necessary.

I agree with Kathy...

Crate rest for several days., out for potty only on a leash. No jumping or stairs. If it doesn't resolve, find a bulldog knowledgeable vet and take her in.

Thank you all for your

Thank you all for your feedback and help

We went to the Vet this morning and it seems to be some swelling or trauma around the cruciate ligament.

He prescribed medication for the Pain and food to strengthen the joints. Vet said she should be on bed rest for the next 3 weeks to see how she heals.

Was trying to post pictures of her but having issues with my droid and posting them

Has anyone had an experience with a cruciate accident ??

Unfortunately, yes...

The cruciate is part of the acl - anterior cruciate ligament.  Chester tore his completely on one side and had to have it surgically repaired (TPLO surgery).  He had to be crated for 8 weeks during recovery, which is the most important part.  However, he had a partial tear on the other side that healed up itself with a little rest.  Hopefully, your guy will do the same.  If you need any advice, let me know, I know more than I ever wanted to about this lol.

We've been through the surgery also.

Best thing you can do is just try to keep her quiet...crate, leash when going outside, no stairs, no jumping, no quick movements.  Hopefully this will heal without surgery.
