ITCHI

I posted before about Ella itching and wanted to update.  She is miserable :(. I changed her food to Taste of the Wild, grain free.  I got the puppy/salmon version.  She gets Apple cider vinegar, salmon oil and yogurt in her food, and no other treats.  I know it will take a while for the new food to help, she's been eating it since 1st of January.  No fleas, I took up a wool carpet the vet said could bother her, her bedding and everything I wash is with a hypo-allergenic soap.  She will sit with my husband and want him to scratch her back, and cry if he stops.  I have bathed her with Virbac Keto-Chlor hoping to give her some relief.  I have some Virbac Allermyl and Resicort that I'm going to try but I don't want to bathe her too much either.  her skin is real pink, and she occassionally has little bumpy areas, but no hot spots, she just frantically chews herself.  She is getting an antihistamine but that doesn't help much.  I realize this will take time, with the food.....but I feel terrible for her!  Am I doing anything wrong?

You are not going to know if the food is the culprit

if you continue to give her the oil/yogurt etc. I would discontinue giving her everything but her food.

Good luck

I agree. Cut out every single thing except food.

And make sure you step up to adult food next bag:-)

Thank U

Thanks Ladies!  I did check the protein/ fat difference in the taste of the wild, just to compare.  The puppy is 27%protien vs 25% adult and fat is 15% in both.  I will def order the adult next!  I appreciate the help on here!

Pink

Wanted to ask this, around her mouth and the areas she chews-what is this? And what can I do?  I wondered if that was due to the ph in her body sorry for all the questions :)

Just a thought

When bathing be double/triple sure all the shampoo is rinsed out of her fur. When you think it is all rinsed out, rinse one more time. A good prescription shampoo my vet sold me was "Sebulux" which solved all the itching and little crusty spots. Good luck, I know this can be frustrating.

Rinse......

I triple rinse when I bathe, I'm OCD about It, lol.  I'm a groomer and that one thing I was always careful about and that's rinsing!  I've stopped everything except her TOW food and she's not itching like she was but she is still itching.  Trying to be patient.  I got some allergy shampoo from verbac and also the resicort lotion to use occassionally.  Since it's cortisone, I don't want to over do.  Will keep you posted....as always thank you for your comments everyone! I've taken a second job....and I haven't had time to get a picture....but will have to post the video of her chasing around this gigantic ball!!
