Heart murmur

Hello my husband I have not had are boy dog very long we have had a girl bull dog (Peanut) and desided we wanted to get a boy with good color and blood line to breed with her . so many in are family love bull dogs and we could give are daughter a puppy one day.  we bought a male on line from a breeder things looked good. He was $6000 as a puppy but the breeder said he was going to keep him to use for stud and changed his mind, so we got him for $3000 he was 7 months old and thats what we were looking for an older dog for are female. We had the dog deliverd to us from Ohio. When we got him there were no vet papers and the dog looked sick. he was timid and his hair was stained with pee. He went to the bathroom and it was 80% worms. he did not stand well. we called the breeder right away and he said it was stress from the trip and he new nothing about the worms. he said his other dogs dont have them. we asked about shots and vet records. he said oh i gave the shots myself. so we got Hershy the dog to thevet  next morning. the vet said it was sad he looked like he did that he was not taken care of. He said he can fix the worm problem eassy and help get him healthy. But that he found a heart murmur 2-3 and said he should not breed with are female. That the puppys may have one also. We do not want to bring into the world more bad health dogs. The breeder said are vet is a quack and dont know what he is talking about. But are vet gave us a letter about the legs and the murmur.  Are heart murmurs pasted on? and any advise on what we should do. we used all are savings to get him. we do not have a lot of money to invest in a lot of health problem. Would it be wise for us to take are $3000 loss and give him to a family that can help him .  Thank you for listing

You need to return the dog and get your money back

First of all, I doubt the breeder would have sold the dog as a puppy for $6,000. Most show prospects do not cost that much. That would be your first red flag.

Second, they obviously sold you a dog on full registration that you intend to use for breeding and I'm sure they didn't ask you too many questions about your future intentions regarding breeding. That would be your second red flag.

You said you had the dog delivered to you so I assume you did not meet the breeders, which is red flag #3.

Now, about heart murmur. Yes, they can be passed on to the puppies and under no circumstances should this dog be used for breeding.

As for breeding, all I will say on that subject is that it's best left up to those who will protect the breed by only breeding healthy specimens who meet the standard of the bulldog.

In conclusion, you purchased a dog from a bad breeder and the best thing you can do is return the dog and demand your money back.

Poor pup

Obviously the dog came from a shady situation and when/if you return the dog to the breeder it will go back to the same situation (if not worse). Before you send this sweet innocent pup back to neglect PLEASE consider surrendering the dog to a reliable rescue. I am in no way passing judgement on you for anything that has happended up to this point or beyond this point ($3000 is a  LOT of money). I am just trying to get you to see that you have the opportunity to let this dog have an amazing life with a foster (then hopefully forever) family instead of sending it back to a place where he was poorly treated. You should also file a report with the authorites in the breeder's area. They are obviously not an above board operation.

This is a sad situation

I'm not sure what's the best option for you but this is obviously a bad breeder who should not be breeding. If you do nothing else please report them to the authorities. I think you should contact rescue rather than sending a sick pup back to people who obviously don't care about the breed.

I also have to say that

Maybe this breed is not the best choice for you. When we got ours we knew of all the medical issues that could arise(and luckily have not)  and could financially be ready for that. Just a thought. Once again good luck.
