Beefy started getting these spots a few months ago - took him to the vet, they prescribed 2 diff anti-boitics to get rid of what they called a bacteria/fungus infection. Ran the full trial of both meds, but nothing has changed...in fact, they have gotten worse, he now has about 6 spots in varying stages - primarily on his neck, back and around his tail. We took him back to the vet last night, and they had no answers - prescribed prednisone for itching, but nothing to stop the problem.
Beefy is 8 this month, and has always had a beautiful coat, with none of these issues and is very healthy. He is on grain-free Merrick Salmon, eats nothing but grain-free & drinks flitered water only. I can see in his eyes that it is bothering him. Can anyone offer any insight, etc? Thank you so much.

Could be demodex...Have they done a skin scraping?
Demodex is a form of mange. Very common in puppies that have a weakened immune system. I would ask to have them do a skin scraping. Our guy got it around 15 mos.
It could possibly be ring worm or similar type of fungus.
I would maybe get an anti-fungal cream, like Nu-Stock or Veterycin. Might knock it out with one of those...you can get either at any Tractor Supply or feed store.
Probably should get a skin scraping from a DIFFERENT vet! Sounds like your vet is stumped, you need another set of eyes on that boy.

Probably not demodex at his age...
do you have any doggie dermatologists in your area? They might be able to figure it out.
Have you tried using a different protein source?
Some dogs do well on fish and some don't. That looks like a food issue to me.
