My 6 year old female, Hazel was given a Adequan injection Friday (the first one). She is currently on Apoquel, thyroid medicaiton, and carprofen. Saturday she became lethargic, drowsy, stumbling occasionally, tired, and eyes are closed like she is sleeping but she is awake. Additionaly today (Sunday) she was laying down next to me and I called her name several times but no response. To get her attention I had to touch her and shake a bit before she responded. Has anyone had this problem with their bully - i will call my vet in the morning.
Sounds like and OD.
Nugget just took her 8th Adequan injection. We will now do maintenance. I stopped giving her the NSAID (meloxicam) while she got her injections. I personally would be taking her to an emergency hospital today. These are not normal reactions and would scare me.
I agree with an emergency vet. Hope all is well....
I'm sorry I didn't see this post yesterday. How is your girl doing?
Amy and Sophia
We do adequan and rimadyl also...
and haven't had any problems with side effects. Hope you get an answer from the vet and she's ok.
Adequan and Rimadyl
Hazel is on these right now, but she is only on her second Adequan injection. The rimadyl doesn't seem to be helping much this time around.
Hazel Update
Sorry for the slow response, I appreciate everyone's concerns. She has an ulcer in her left eye and all labs, etc came by normal. The problem now is her right hind leg vet thinks torn cruciate. She had the same think on her left side and after turning to heal naturally which she did a couple of times we ended up having surgery. She has arthritis but she has been having problems with this leg for several weeks and we are limiting her activity. i think we will have to end up doing surgery again. Her vet has started her on Adequan injections. Right now he is treating her with meds and laser therapy.
How is she doing?
I've been thinking about her.
How is she doing?
.
Hazel
I posted elsewhere she has an ulcer on her left eye, and her right hind leg looks like a torn cruciate. So probably going to have to have surgery, but we are doing laser therapy again. What cuties you have.
Thanks for the update...Our one bulldog
has had many eye issues. We've also had CCL surgery. Sending positive thoughts your way. They sure do keep us on our toes.
Hazel
