bulldog licking and scratching

My 2.5 year old English bulldog got some kind of urinal track infection. She was put on Cephalexin antibiotic for 15 days. She was licking her paws at the start of the infection and continues to lick them 5 days after the use of the medicine. I just noticed she has scratched her head and it is bleeding a little. Is this allergies or what?

Probably allergies. My bully

Probably allergies. My bully has pretty bad allergies and maybe it's just me but I think he has a touch of OCD. He just won't stop licking sometimes!!

I would make a vet appt and start talking about relief and prevention.

--Ask about using Benadryl--usually safe for most dogs
--If really bad right now ask about a short course of steroids
--Ask for a relief spray--contains oatmeal and some other soothing things to help topically relieve the itch

--Start thinking about what they are allergic to-food? (A lot of bullies it seems, but not mine) or outside things? (mine--he's allergic to Florida. Where we live!)
If it is allergies, it can be a long journey but you will get better and better at managing it and figuring our what works for your dog with time.

bulldog licking and scratching

She started licking before the antibiotics.I think it started with the infection. We seem to have some sort of rust build up on the grass in the back yard due to the dry conditions in Des Moines Iowa.I wonder if this could be the cause? I called the vet. and they told me to try Benadryl for allergies. I hope this takes care of it.

When did she start licking

When you started the antibiotics?

You need to figure out the reason first.

Yes it could be allergies, but if the licking just started when the antibiotices started then maybe a reaction to the Cephalexin.
