9 Year old Tater - coughing/gagging/hacking..have you experienced something similar?

Hello Everyone, It has been forever since I've been on this board, you all probably don't even remember us :-)  but that is ok!  Tater has been having some health issues (he's 9 now) and I'm not happy with the current vet.  I plan to get a second opinion but I wanted to know if any other bully owners have experienced a similar story?

Tater has just starting having allergies in the past year, he gets yeast infections and hot spots.  I have gotten the hot spot issue under control with adding some supplements but over the summer we have had some new issues arise.  He has been having bleeding when he poops, it's bright red, the vet isn't concerned and has been pretty much trying to give antibiotocs ALL summer for it.  Then recently tater has been doing this gag/cough thing, at first I thought maybe it was some type of asthma? But the other week, I heard a strange noise from the kitchen, went to check on him and he was laying in a pile of his own vomit (mucus and bileish ) gagging and i swore I was about to loose him out of the blue.  I rushed over, cleared his mough out, held his head up while he gagging/gasping for air and he finally snapped out of it.  I had a long night of keeping an eye on him and the next morning we went immediately to the vet for testing.

They tested everything (, even sent out for 2nd opinion, they do this for all bulldog xrays i was told) xrays, bloodwork, ekg....they couldn't find anything, no explanation for what happened, no explanation for the gagging/hacking/coughing fits. The vet seemed very concerned of his color when I arrived, his gums and tounge were very light at the time.  The only thing they said after all the testing was his heart was a little enlarged but with him being a bulldog they weren't too concerned because they didn't have anything to comapre to for him.  He had no other clinical signs of CHF or any heart issue so they sent him home with no answers (and a nice fat bill for me)

Tater is still gagging/hacking/coughing whatever it is he still has red blood leaking out when he poops.  The vet said there could be some pollups far in that are irritated but again unless i want all kinds of test they really aren't concerned about it.  I started doing some reserarch, I'm no vet obviously but he sounds like a dog does when they have a collapsed trachea, however he can just be laying there and it happens, in the middle of the night when he's sleeping.  My other thought is maybe he has the beginning stages of CHF and just doesn't have any fluid buildup yet?

I hate to go to a new vet and start this expenseive process all over, espcailly with Tater being an older bully.  Has anyone had any type of expericnces smiliar?  I tried to add a short clip of what is happening, of course this was a very mild case and very hard to hear but you can see the motions of what his body is doing and hear the hacking a tiny bit over the babbling baby :-)  Thanks in advance!

What I would do is...

Go to the vet that's been seeing him and get all his records of the tests and find a good bulldog vet. That should eliminate repeating the bloodwork etc. I can't  believe they just shrug this off to age. We have one almost 12 and our vet keeps looking u til she finds a solution when our guy has a problem. If the rectal blood is bright red that means it probably is s fissure or polyp but I would want to know for sure. Good luck. Hope you can find some answers.
