Submitted by admin on April 20, 2010 - 11:36pmSo I am so sick of getting photographers that don't have the time of day to actually get a good win picture.
So Ester's latest WB picture from Portland is horrible and of course the photographer was in a huge hurry and said she got the shot with just a little tongue that she could fix. Well she didn't, infact the whole head looks distorted in the photo because she got her in the middle of her closing her mouth.
It really irritates me that these photographers can't take the extra 30 seconds to get a good shot. They are using digital cameras and it's so dang easy to see if the shot is decent or not.
OK -- Past the rant. Can I just send the photos back? I see no reason to keep crappy photos and pay $35 bucks for them. Or do I have to pay for them and put them in the shredder?
I rarely get them
I rather get a friend to take some out in the yard or in a scenic place. I'll do new champion pics or a nice win once. Ours are 50 bucks for 2 8X10's. I hate being rushed and show pics always are.
Yeah -- I got them
and they are 2-3 mg which is perfect. LOL!
Most of Tequila's wins were with a handler
and I have to admit the pix were much nicer. I don't know if the photographer took more time because they knew it was a client dog or what. I have this same complaint constantly-the photographers know you more than likely are going to buy it regardless of how it turns out. I've had better pix taken as candids from ringside than what these show photographers have done. There are several breeders/spectators in the south where I show that take better shots ringside that I would rather pay my $35 dollars to and get something worth bragging over than some of the garbage these "professional" photographers take. Urg-sorry for my rant-its one of my pet peeves also. I haven't returned any of my photos as bad as they were-I treasured the win as mine are few and far between so I keep my photos but one of these days I might just send one back with a piece of my mind.
If you can return it I would if it is that bad. Sorry for the bad pix-been there and done that-know exactly where you are coming from.

Help With Pictures

Typically, if you have someone go in the ring with you to help with the picture, the photographer is kinda forced to take their time to get a good shot.

I'll make more of a point to tell them it is IMPORTANT to have a GOOD picture. BUT it is their job is it not to give you their time and a decent picture. Hell I could do a better job myself.
Infact Ester's major win picture that Vicky took was WAY better then the photographers picture. I just can't get Vicky to send me the original Large file and I'm guessing it is infringement since the sign has the photographers name on it.
Randy might be good but he also is sooooo impatient that he won't give you the time of day. Well maybe he will give YOU the time of day, but I'm a nobody. At least with him if the picture is crap he doesn't waist his time to print it and send it.
I would love to be able to advertise but I have yet to get a picture I can even use for advertising.
Honestly irritates the heck out of me. As you can probably tell.
I'll call the photographer and let her know how disappointment I am in the photo. At least maybe the next time she will produce a product worth sharing.
Local Photographers

I would call the photographer in question and explain your situation. I've found that all the local photographers in our area are quite reasonable. I always ask for Randy Roberts first and then I go with Meg Callea.
You have to be very clear with what you want. When I'm out of the area, I always tell the photographer what I want and when it's okay for them to take the picture. I'll even check on their camera if I'm not sure and if I care enough about the picture being that good, i.e. I hope to advertise it.

I agree with Deb, they have digital and should look at the picture before they leave. Another bulldogger won during this cluster, i took pictures of her dog. Im not kidding she had just stacked up the dog and the photographer was up and walking away. I dont know how her pictures turned out, but mine were ok, but the dog was not ready.
If they want to get payed they have to have a good product

Depends..
On the photographer if you can send them back. Some have a clause that if you get pic taken and receive it you buy it, others have if you open it, you buy it.

make sure AKC has her win posted and she got the points, you can scan it too so you have a copy.
this is why i only want RANDY Roberts doing my pictures. I know he had trouble with 1 of her win's too, but he atleast didnt send the picture.
