Too close: brother- sister same litter; father -daughter; mother- son. Consistent "linebreeding" (more then 3 generations) without an outcross added. Best?or ok: 1/2 brother-1/2 sister; uncles (full or 1/2) to neices; aunts (full or 1/2) to nephews Very important to be extremely knowledgeable regarding health background of all concerned when doing line breeding because while it can magnify the best it can also do the opposite.

it depends on the dogs. Sometimes linebreeding is not a good option for a bitch. Just because it looks good on paper doesnt mean it will translate well in real life.
Also know that sometimes first cousins or uncle/aunt-niece/nephew breedings might have less diversity in the pedigree than some parent/children breedings.

have to say this :)
It is line breeding when it works, it is inbreeding when it doesn't!
Think it was a horse breeder who coined this phrase.
