I had a bitch act like she was coming into season. She was swollen, the boys were interested.. No blood and then nothing.. Now everything is back to normal.. Silent heat? We never had that before..

I have two that do this.. Angel had normal bleeding until her last two heat cycles, last two I would have never known without wiping and findint a faint tinge of pink. A couple of months ago Rease swelled, I waited, never ANY bleeding of any kind and now all swelling is gone. These two definitely keep things intersting and require dates on calendars :O)

I had a bitch do that. She produced one drop of blood on day one plus she was swollen. She remained swollen for a few days then went back to normal. I was sure she was out of heat and going into a split heat. We did progesterone on day 8 on the advice of a friend who felt she was still in heat and sure enough she had ovulated. She was bred to produce 4 puppies. Only thing is that after the litter she was diagnosed with a thyroid issue. Check your girl's thyroid and the progesterone. I am betting she is in a silent heat and the thyroid may or may not be an issue. If the progesterone shows she is out of heat and not ovulating she may be having a split heat. Expect her to come back in very soon but once again check the thyroid. Thyroid is not the only reason for why she would be having this issue but it is a good starting point.

How hot is it where you are?
It could be a split season which often occurs when the weather is really hot. Otherwise as you say could be a silent season.
