Bulldogger ad questions

Thanks for reading and I hope some of you can help me. I feel the ad's in the Bulldogger are getting to fluffy, as in, showing everything but the dog. Many of the dog photos in these ad's have been doctored, cleaned and ran thru the magical whittening eraser to the point where it does'nt even look like the same dog in real life. After all this, I want to do a basic traditional ad. (plain white background, black lettering and one picture)

Is there a template somewhere to use for the correct size?

How do you send the info to Ray?

Do you print the ad ready to be scanned? (I can't seem to print the correct size)

Do you send hard copy of ad and a photo for him to crop and paste?

Can your ad be sent in a more modern way? (such as email, jpeg, pdf)

Re: Bulldogger ad questions

Hi Faye

I tend to stick with the old fashioned type ads, occasionally doing a full bleed page.

Anyway, I send the photos (Ray can't take pics via email) and on my word processing program I just type my copy. At one time I just wrote it in ink before I had a computer. Print that off and send it with your photos.

Hope that's helpful.

Hi Betsy,

The post asked:

If there was a current pre-made template for my cpu, it would be nice to share with everyone.

How do you send the info to Ray?
As in, do you have a standing template with him that he uses to place a new picture and/or new wording on for you.

Do you print the ad ready to be scanned? (I can't seem to print the correct size)
I have printed then sent in Specialty Show advertisements, that when published shrank alot.

Do you send hard copy of ad and a photo for him to crop and paste?
This is how I've did it in the past.

Can your ad be sent in a more modern way? (such as email, jpeg, pdf)
If so, It would be nice to know. This can save alot of money and time for everyone.

The graphics on your ad's look wonderful. My statment was why I'm going with traditional ads not why you or anyone else should.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Re: I've tried ad's both ways

Faye,

If "most of your ads have been traditional", why are you asking how to compose and submit traditional ads?

Who is to say that a traditional ad could not be photoshopped or otherwise doctored?  It is just as easy to edit a traditional win picture and reprint it for submission as it is to edit a picture in a ready scan ad with background graphics.

I've tried ad's both ways

Hi Lisa,
Most of my ad's have been traditional, recently I tried some fancy graphics. After further discusions on this with some old timers, I agree with them that the ad's of late do not bring the focus to the real subject, the dog. I see alot of dogs that do not resemble their photo's. With that said my post was more of a question on how others send ad's to Ray in order to help myself and others with sizes, what proofs to send, etc.

confused

Faye, I have seen several ads that you have put in the bulldogger over the last year that your husband Jon did for you. Several were very "fluffy", where is this coming from?

In this age of technology, any photo can be altered then printed to look like the original. Just because there is a lot of color and graphics surronding an ad doesn't mean the photo has been altered, similarly, a single photo on the white background can just as easily be altered then submitted as an original.

I have...

just sent in my picture to him and on a separate sheet of paper write down what I want to go on the ad. He then puts that all on the ad. Also be sure to put your name and address on the back of the pic you are sending him so if you want it back he will have all that info on it.

Hope this helps.

sizing

if you want to create it yourself, the sizing is 5.5" wide x 8.5" tall. Be sure to include a .25" bleed if need be and that your image is at least .5" in from the edges so that it doesn't get cropped off or lost in the middle part of the booklet.

You can also send in hard copy with text, per the other posts.
