Well, this past week-end was a special one for a couple of our Olympic Gals who had quite the adventure...a couple hour drive to the airport, where they were handed off to their new Moms, & flew away to live happily ever after! I couldn't have asked for better homes for these special girls--BOTH of them will be shown in obedience, & one in agility & breed as well if she turns out favorably. It was a long day, but we had some wonderful NW sunshine to see them off!
Miga was the first to connect with her family. She went to live with our good friend Jane Pharr in CA & they hit it off immediately...
It was just a few years ago that Jane came to pick up her special brindle boy, Bailey. A feminine version of Bailey, Miga has some very similar color & markings. Here's a photo from Bailey's Homecoming...
(pretty incredible similarities, huh?!)
We're hoping Miga will step into those big shoes left by Bailey and can pick up where he left off--and she's certainly got a great family to do it with!
Big Bro, Gabe, came along for moral support and got in on the party, too!
Jane & Miga had just a perfect amount of time to get acquainted before heading out to the gate to catch their flight. Their trip went very well and by the time I got home later that evening they reported that Miga was happily exploring her new digs!
It was a bit more of an ordeal for our girl, Sumi & her Mom...who came from the other side of the country! Shortly after we saw Jane & Miga off to their gate, Sumi's Mystery Mom arrived to meet her! She had almost 12 hours before her return flight home, so we decided to meet up with Vicky L and have lunch! This Mystery Mom is someone whom we'd known for many years through the BDW site, but this was the first time to actually meet in person!
Here's Sumi getting a cuddle from her Mom (and YES, this lady was still smilin' after her several hour flight!) Does anyone recognize this smile?...
We had a terrible scare early in the morning as I was getting ready to head out the door to do the hand offs. Our spunky little Mukmuk aspirated and I had several very scary minutes before I had her stabilized enough to head out the door. Before I did I put in a call to my good friend Cherie (a former vet tech) who was able to promise me she'd come and take her into the vet to be checked out. Sure enough she had a touch of pneumonia, but we were very blessed that she turned around quickly and was eating & playing later that same evening! She's on ABs right now and under watchful care, but appears to be almost fully recovered. All I could think of was Vicky's very similar situation that ended in her loss of her special keeper girl, Honey. It certainly could have turned out differently and we are grateful that we were spared such grief.
Tonight Quatchi headed off to her family--only a couple hours away--to yet another wonderful home with someone who had a pup from one of my very first bulldog litters. (just realized I failed to get photos with her family, so I'll have to have them send me some!) It's been a looong day!
More photos of Sumi & her Mom soon...but we'll tease you a bit first!
Hopefully you'll be seeing quite a bit of her!
I'm so happy for Jane (and for me--couldn't have gone to a better Mom!) Hoping we'll see many accomplishments from this team in the years to come!
No teasing!!...
Cant wait to meet Miga in person!
