if i owned a very show quality BLACK bulldog or black & white bulldog, i would show it. about 10 yrs ago i saw 2 that were show quality in the greater Seattle area.
there are none out there that fit that bill so its a moot point.
i always like to wind you show folks up with that. B/W bulldogs are stunning to look at.
There is also no disqualification for a tri colored bulldog.

Hi Michelle,
Other than stating that the Standard has only one disqualification (brown or liver colored nose), your question is an involved one! Solid black in color "is very undesirable." It would depend on the eye of the beholder how one would answer your question. Comparing the dog/bitch to the Standard and figuring out what its pros/virtues are and what its cons/faults are will help you.

One should not necessarily seek out the negatives in a particular dog/bitch, although it is human nature, when one sees something that is out of line with the standard. This would lead me to what was once shown to me, that a dog/bitch that is balanced all of its aspects is what is desirable. Proper headpiece, bone, mass, topline, gait, all combined to give a balanced end, will ultimately prevail.
Perserverance isn't a long race. It's a series of short races, ran one after the other.

Black is not a DQ
But it is undesirable. I believe the liver colored nose is the only DQ.

Only One DQ

I guess I was wondering if there are certain traits that are more undesirable than others?

Is there a specific fault that would keep you from putting a dog

any fault that is so excessive that it would always prevent a win.
Some mild faults are carried well by some dogs who are otehrwise outstanding.
I avoid showing dogs that are just not competative (in my own opinion).
e
yes
never would take an aggressive dog to a show
Thanks!
I would never breed an aggressive dog, so I wouldn't bother showing it.
