What is the best thing to use for yeasty ears? I just cleaned Mason's ears and they still smell like yeast and I got tons of yeast out of them which alaways seems to come back over night. I have tried vinegar and water and he acts like it burns or something because he cries out so I am not going to use that anymore. He doesn't have any sores in his ears so I don't know why he cried out with the vinegar and water.
Calm Coat.
About two months ago I started giving Joker the Calm Coat Omega Chews... For about one month now his ears have been very yeasty and smelly.. Could this have something to do with it... He's been on Purina One for about one year and never had this problem before... He's almost two years old..... Thanks
Food change....
Mason is on natural balance fish and sweet potato and has been on so many different foods. Several natural balance foods(venison, duck and the fish) and he has had a yeasty smell to him with all the foods but it does seem like it has been worse since he has been on the fish. I had him on natural balance venison and sweet potato and he got urine crystals with that so thats when I switched to the fish and sweet potato. I have thought about when natural balance comes out with the bison trying that but who knows when it will be out. He has major allergies and apparently I still haven't found a food that he does good on and believe me he has been on almost everything.
I use OtiCalm Ear Solution....
I got it from my vet here..
works good
the vet told me if the ears smell there is likely an ear infection going on
does your bullies ear smell??
the solution you just use a cotton batton ball and clean out the ears
and in the summer..put in the solution and let the bully shake out the ears outside and then wipe the junk out..
maybe try a gentle ear cleaner and then
some annimax or ottomax after? it must be the food... i was on n/b duck potato and kibby ear wax turned dark brown and she had yeast problems galore! i switched to natures variety chicken/rice and she is better now.
have you tried california Natural for food??
california natural is a great food
and very limited ingredients
the nice thing about it is just lamb, rice and sunflower oil ...
it is a good food to try
and see how it goes
I did help out with boston terrier rescue many years ago and they used it lots of alergies.
it comes in moist and dry as well..
here is a link to their website

my boston I had really yeasty ears and skin and I switched her over to California Natural and it cleared up nicely..she did really well on that food. I used some of the moist as well as the dry..she did not like water and this gave her a bit more fluid.
Change his food..
I recently had a rescue dog who developed yeasty yellow gunky ears when I fed him Canidae food. I changed his food to Natural Balance duck and potato and it went away in a day!
I don't rescue animals because I want to feel better about myself, or morally superior to anyone. The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.

I use have vinegar and half water..
my bullies don't appreciate it.. but they don't cry.. could he have an underlying ear infection and the canal is raw ?
