would a bulldog do this too...this is terribly upsetting story..to hear and read..

although about a pug..that ate the owner..
it sure talks about the will to survive for dogs..
was a total shock to read this..
but really makes you wander..

I live alone and think that I will start making sure that someone calls me or checks on me every day. really makes me think twice but being checked out
I see my son every couple of days..but still...

wander if all breeds would do this push comes to shove..

Would ya live on in the dog?

true..sometimes...they rehome them before this happens...

one of the major signs of depression that has gone wrong is when the animals are rehomed..but that is the best for all concerned really in the end.
i worry since I am on my own..if something happens what would my dogs do..
I will be buying a big bag of dogfood for a spare tomorrow to have around here..
if worse came to worse..at least they would have that..available..
living alone is not always the best..lol

you never know
you could die naturally too
get someone to check on you all the time...is the best...at least every couple of days..like my son does right now. friends check too...

maybe I am just cold hearted but this doesn't upset me too much

the dogs knew the man was gone and I'm sure to their sensitive smell he didn't smell much like their owner after a few days of decomposing anyways. I'm sure that even though dogs have been domesticated for such a long time the instinct to survive on carrion if necessary can't be squashed. I feel much worse about the poor dogs that were left to starve than the dead guy they ate. The man didn't value his own life while he was alive.

yes I suppose too...the instinct of survival is pretty strong...

even us humans for sure too
it is upsetting though
just really goes to show how far an animal will go to survive

Upsetting but not surprising

since survival is the strongest of all instincts, starving to death is a pretty strong motivator. Humans have eaten other humans when faced with starvation so dogs doing so really shouldn't be a surprise.

the video says they did on the site..the article did not though.

there is a link to the new video on the site that explains they did in fact do it..
wow cats really
OH my goodness..
amazes me they would actually do this.
in the video they show them trying to put a fake arm at the dogs and see if they would take it and no they did not soo they think they can adopt them out ok..but still wow..hard to believe..

cats are more known to do that then dogs....

even the article could not say if the dogs had eaten any of the person.....cats will do that and their been many doucemented cases of it....
sad to say my bullies are so fussy they would starve first...

yea but true...guess push comes to shove..they survive some how.

the dogs sound like they will be rehomed as well
the video on the link is good
it explains how they are testing them now too

but still
wow what a shock

That sounds like a horror movie

how awful. It's good that they seem to be ok and survived.
