Wooly Bully and Vaccinations

A couple of days ago, I posted a message asking if anyone knew of a connection between vaccinations and gastroenteritis. Thanks to all who responded. At the same time, I left a voicemail for the vet at the University of Penn who diagnosed Bully's tail problem a couple of years ago.

He says that there is definitely a correlation between vaccination and GE--or stomach illness. Since this has only happened to Bully once, he can't say definitively that the vaccines were the cause; but this is enough to make me not want to get the vaccines.

I've cancelled the vet appointment for tomorrow with my regular vet and going to Penn on November 5 so Bully can have the blood test that some of you mentioned. If the level of antibodies is insufficient, we'll go back and get the vaccinations. But in that case, we'll begin a diet of bland food and doses of Tylan as a precaution.

The vet also said that he consulted with his colleagues to see if spacing the vaccinations apart would make a difference. Their consensus was that it would not.

That's good information...

thanks for posting it. I agree titering is the way to go. I know Ollie is pretty much done with vaccinations at 5 1/2 year old.
