Yes, they are expensive, and many get donated to Rescue
so I suggest you post desire to purchase used one on Craig's List or similar bulletin boards...and since you know what they cost 'new' you should have an idea of what to pay for a used one, preferably one used for a Dachshund (they often have back problems/paralization issues)or similar size used for a dog about the same weight.
