Belle has completed her 5th week of pregnancy, she is due Nov 21st. Up until now she been fed a mixture of TOTW (venison) and Diamond Lamb and Rice (no chicken, corn or grain). I have given her about 1 cup of Diamond Puppy food with her kibble as well.
She also gets, 1 Pet tab plus and a folic acid/day.
Last week, we started giving her a little hamburger(browned with fat left in) as a snack, between feedings.
***When we buy food again (later this week) she will be on TOTW only (not any diamond)***We were just using up what we had, and with 3 bullies I had tried to mix in a less expensive grain free food to my TOTW in order for it to last longer.
So, I need to know what to feed her from here out? Do you continue with kibble and add other food to it, or do you decrease kibble until she is only on people food? When do you start to add cranberry pills and what brand are you all using?
Thanks,
Heather
PS- Her black belly is now almost completely pink-why is that?
Isn't TOTW grain free & high protein?
if so, you shouldn't need to supplement if she's eating well. The only time I supplement is if she doesn't want to eat, then I added hard boiled eggs, or ground beef/turkey.
The totw should be high enough protein that you don't need to add anything, just feed her more (usually the packaging says how much to increase for pregnant/nursing bitches)
I got folic acid supplement from my vet in liquid form, it was MUCH easier to give... they ALWAYS seem to seperate pill from treat lol the liquid was so easy! Cranberry pills the last two weeks... 1 pill/day the 1st of two weeks, 2 pills/day for the last week.

feeding your pregnant bullie
Hi - sounds like you are doing a great job. Yes, she does need x-tra quality nutrition at this time. How about adding some Barking at the Moon by solid gold to her TOTW dog food.
I would give about 25% PER DAY OF THE Barking at the moon food.
Excellent for a momma that will be nursing.
Also, we have had great luck with the "NuVET vitamin" Supplement - rather than the Pet Tabs brand that has had many problems with high sugar and lead.
If you need more help - let me know....
BEST of Luck

I really appreciate the advice
I started her on folic acid and a multivitamin when her heat started. Then I purchased some Pet Tabs Plus from the vet and took her off the people vitamins because I felt like they were making her stomach upset. I have since read that people vitamins may do more harm than good, so I am praying that I didn't hurt her babies.
I do appreciate your input, we bred my girl to Newcomb's Konner J, and this is our first ever litter. We are so excited but most of all we just want everything to go well for mom and pups. Thanks again.

I haven't heard of Solid Gold, but I will check it out. Thanks and it's always good to get input from others.

Pet tabs are fine I give them to my dogs and have for 30 years o
any problems. In fact my dogs live to 11 - 14 years of age. I give them to pregnant bitches in fact I double them in the last month 2 instead of 1. Just continue to feed what you have been feeding just she may need to be fed smaller meals more times a day as the pups get bigger and fill her up. If you want to change her vitamins then a lot of breeders use human prenatal vitamins 1 a day.
