At the vet for allergy test

I just overheard the nurse on the phone with the company that is doing the allergy test and they said Tug would have to be off the steroids for 90 before they could do the allergy test. Does this sound correct?

We have tem go off for 7-10 DAYS before we test

I work for a vet dermatologist

I had my tested and I didn't have to. I had the VARL testing

nm

Kara, Rico and Rocky

I don't know

but you would need to give serious consideration about the dog's health if you withdrew the steroids for 90 days...certainly something to talk with the vet about. Also would check with another company who does allergy testing to see what their requirements are.

that's what mine said too

We had to stop all allergy meds and steroids 2 weeks before the allergy test. I chose a blood test because the skin test the specialist wanted to do required my dog to be sedated. I thought there was a greater chance of my dog dieing from sedation then I was comfortable with.

Re: At the vet for allergy test

I would ask your vet to do the blood allergy test. They can still be on meds for that. The allergy test that he is doing sounds like the rasha test where they sedate the dog, shave his paw then inject several different types of allergens to see what he is allergic to.
