Vaginitis after mating

Hi all

I mated my bitch 11 days ago and yesterday I noticed a snot green discharge from her vulva so I raced her to my vet who diagnosed Vaginitis and has put her on Noroclav.

I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this and whether your bitch had still conceived or whether I can be pretty sure we won't be having any puppies.

Thanks in advance
Louise

Thanks Ela1ne I will get some malaseb wipes

and try using those. I wouldn't call it yellow though definitely light green.

I agree Vicky

The cases we've had of vaginitis was a milky looking discharge that cleared up a few days after we got antibiotics. The green snotty looking stuff doesn't sound good to me. I've never had a girl with pyro but I would watch this girl very closely and monitor temp.

To those who understand no explanation is needed. To those who don't no explanation is possible.

green discharge = Vaginitis

the dogs i have seen with vaginitis the discharge was not green.

Hope she turns around and is doing well, All the dogs i have seen with green it's an infection in the uterus or on way to pyo.

Fingers crossed all is ok

Could it be...

that some coloration (yellow or greenish-yellow) is urine being trapped in the mucous of the vaginitis? If so, the antibiotic should clear her up. You can wipe the external folds with Malaseb wipes which may help reduce any itch she has.

Thanks guys. At this stage I don't think its pyo

and neither does my vet. No excessive thirst, no temperature she is just her normal nutty self but I will still watch her and see what happens.
