Hi everyone!
Tuffy turns 12 weeks tomorrow and had his second checkup at the vet today. He now weighs 18 lbs and the vet says he looks great. Is 18 lbs a good size for a 12 week old bulldog...?
In any event, I mentioned Tuffy's soft poop issues and the possibility that he might have a grain allery and he said that as long as the dog is active, healthy and gaining weight he thinks that the food he's on is fine and there is no need to change it at this present time. He did mention that if this continues to be an issue we can discuss the possibility of other food alternatives at our next visit.
Thoughts...? Can a dog who is healthy and gaining weight still have a grain allergy and should I just ride this out for a while longer before pursuing other foods?
Also does anyone have a bullie who had soft poop on regular food and then this problem was resolved by switching to grain free?
Thanks!
Kim
Re: yes a dog who is healthy and gaining weight
Thanks...I'll keep that in mind!

Yep!
You may try adding a little canned pumpkin to the food and see if that will firm up the poop.

can still have a grain allergy. Mine grew and gained weight and she is most definitely allergic to grains. I had no idea her itchy stinky face and paw licking was an allergy. She did not have soft poop issues, however.

Re: How much and what food are you feeding?
Hi Jacinda,
Thanks for the post! I'm feeding between 3/4 cups to 1 cup, three times a day. So around 3 cups a day... Sound about right?

His weight sounds fine.
