Thoughts, arthritis

Hi everyone,
Well I had a bit of a surprise today.
My Stella had some spots which we suspected were staph and I had asked for some advice here, and got some really great suggestions! But they didn't go away so when my DH said he noticed her favouring her left hind leg I called the vet and got her in for an appt. this morning.
Well, the spots were staph and we got a prescription for antibiotics for her.
But the vet couldn't get a good feel of her legs so she wanted to do an x ray.
Admittedly this was not our regular vet at our non-serious issues vet. but I didn't think we were dealing with anything serious when I took her in or else I would have taken her to our bulldog vet.
Anyway the vet felt that Stella has advanced arthritis in her hips and knees.
i have more pics of the x rays, if someone would like to see them.
I have emailed the x rays to my bulldog vet for a 2nd opinion and we are hoping that it isn't as bad as the intial vet thought.

thanks in advance for your help.

UBAVET GOLD...give it a try

glucosamine HCL powder formula. Only available through the vet. ('Benny Bully's' liver powder formula) with chondroitin, MSM...ETC.

the firls at my vet swear by it for this type of problem...their dogs walk without any problems now! It was $80.00 CDN for the 1 Kg size (35.3 oz.) it is going to last a long time, I can see that. the dogs LOVE IT!

I would certainly give it a try, you have nothing to lose and lots to gain!

XXOO

She DOES appear to have shallow hip sockets.

and because the "ball" at the top of the leg (femor) bone doesn't get a lot of support due to this shallow socket, the slippage can, over time, cause arthritis to form in those joints. Its harder to see the knees but there may be some arthritis there as well. I would also want the bulldog-savvy vet to look at these and possibly recommend some treatment to minimize her discomforts. It doesn't (IMHO) look as serious as to require a FHO type surgery, tho. happy.gif

Thank you Elaine

I really appreciate it.
I was hoping someone who had a bit of experience would look at the x ray and tell me what they thought.
I will let you know what the vet says.

Thanks

Arthritis

Ask your Vet about Adequan injections. They are great for arthritis. My Morgan takes them for hip dysplasia and she does great on them and does not even need pain meds.
